Open Settings → AI for the agent. You choose one option and sign in right there. You need only one.
| Option | What you sign in with | Runs |
|---|---|---|
| Graspable agent | A ChatGPT subscription, an API key, or a local model | Graspable's own agent |
| Claude Code | A Claude subscription (Pro or Max) | Anthropic's Claude Code on your computer |
| Codex CLI | The ChatGPT login of the Codex CLI | OpenAI's Codex on your computer. Shown only if the Codex CLI is installed |
Only the selected option shows its sign-in. All three edit the same project, show the same run panel and go through the same checks.
Graspable agent
Sign in with ChatGPT
- Select Graspable agent.
- Choose Sign in with ChatGPT. Your browser opens.
- Finish signing in there. The Settings page updates by itself and shows "Signed in with ChatGPT".
If the browser flow does not work, choose Not working? Use a code instead. The app shows a code to enter on the page that opened.
This uses your ChatGPT plan through OpenAI's Codex sign-in. OpenAI tolerates other apps using it but does not officially support them. If it stops working, switch to an API key.
Use an API key
- Under Graspable agent, open Use an API key instead (or Add an API key).
- Pick a provider and a model.
- Paste the key and choose Add. Get a key opens the provider's key page.
The providers are Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, OpenRouter, xAI, Groq, Mistral, Google Gemini and Vercel AI Gateway.
Keys are stored in your computer's keychain and sent only to the agent running on your computer.
An API key is billed per use by the provider. That is separate from, and on top of, any ChatGPT or Claude subscription.
Use a local or custom model
In the same form, pick Custom / local (OpenAI-compatible). Enter the address and the model name. The key is optional.
This works with any OpenAI-compatible chat endpoint, such as Ollama (http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1), LM Studio, vLLM or a gateway.
You can add more than one account. Choose Use this on another to switch.
Claude Code
- Select Claude Code.
- If it is not installed, choose Install Claude Code. This takes about a minute.
- Choose Sign in with Claude. Your browser opens. If the page shows a code, paste it into the field in Settings.
Graspable runs your own, unmodified Claude Code. It never reads or copies your Claude sign-in.
If your Claude Code is set up to use an API key or an Anthropic Console account, Settings shows a warning that usage is billed per use and not to your subscription.
Codex CLI
This option appears only when the Codex CLI is installed on your computer. Choose Sign in with ChatGPT under it.
You do not need it to use a ChatGPT subscription. The Graspable agent signs in with ChatGPT directly.
Codex runs commands inside its own sandbox without asking you. See Approvals and safety.
Which subscription works where
| You have | Use |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT subscription | Graspable agent with Sign in with ChatGPT |
| Claude subscription | Claude Code only |
| Anthropic API key | Graspable agent |
| Any other provider's API key | Graspable agent |
| A model on your own computer | Graspable agent with Custom / local |
Why a Claude subscription works only in Claude Code: Anthropic allows a Claude subscription only inside Claude Code. To use Claude in the Graspable agent you need an Anthropic API key, billed separately.
Signing in with Google or GitHub Copilot to power the agent is not offered.
Refresh model list
Each option has a Model menu. For Claude Code and the Codex CLI, the list comes from the tool installed on your computer, and Default means whatever that tool is set to.
When a new model comes out, choose Refresh model list at the top of the section. Graspable asks Claude Code, Codex and the model catalog again. Updating Claude Code or the Codex CLI also brings their new models.
Signing out
- Graspable agent: Sign out next to the ChatGPT row, or Remove next to a key.
- Claude Code and Codex CLI: Sign out under the option.
A project that runs in the cloud needs the Graspable agent with an API key. See Cloud agents.
